There is no better ambassador for Mauritius than horse racing.

Jockeys such as Karis Teetan, late Nooresh Juglall and others abroad have flown the flag high, as have Mauritian owners around the world, especially in South Africa.

If you still have a doubt, then read on :

Yesterday at Kenilworth - South Africa, Port Louis scored his first ever win in just his third start. Owned by Tikanand Gujadhur and trained by Brett Crawford, the two-year-old son of Gimmethegreenlight and Winning Eyes won the 2nd race with Luyolo Mxothwa in the irons. He got the better of Royal Aussie (Richard Fourie) in a tight finish, while Fort Apache (Aldo Domeyer) took 3rd.

Two other horses belonging to Tikanand Gujadhur and also trained by Brett Crawford took part in the same race - Royal Port Louis and Downing Seven. Both finished unplaced.
